Modem Settings for the Texscan MSI Products

The following modems listed have been tested with our Texscan MSI products. Any modems that are not listed may not work with our products.

          Tested Modems:

                Black Box Short Haul Modem
                Cardinal 2400 External Modem
                Hayes SmartModem 1200/2400 External Modem
                US Robotics Sportster 14.4K, 28.8K, 33.6K FAXModem

NOTE : If you have older modems besides the items listed above and used them with the SG3B/4B Character Generators, these modems may still be applicable with the new Z-Series SpectraGen Character Generators. However, you will need to replace the old modem cables with serial cables. Please contact us for more information on setup and instructions.

Remote Edisize="2"> Remote Edit Settings

1)    Keyboard Versions ZKB, ZKB2, ZKB3 connected to a Z Series Character
       Generator using the US Robotics Sportster FAXModem.

        a) The modem which is connected to the ZKBx keyboard set the switches 1 , 4 and 8 to the
           DOWN position. The other switches are in the up position.
       b) The modem which is connected to the Z Series Character Generator set the switches 1 , 3 , 4
           7 and 8 to the DOWN position. The other switches are in the up position.
       c) Verify that the Baud Rate settings on the ZKB or ZKB2/ZKB3 Interface Module is set
            to 9600 baud.
       d) Verify and/or change the Baud Rate setting on the Z Series Character Generator COM
            Port 3 to 9600    Port 3 to 9600 baud, KEYBOARD .

2)    Keyboard Versions ZKB, ZKB2, ZKB3 connected to SG3/4B Character
       Generator using the US Robotics Sportster FAXModem.

       a) A special cable is required at the SG3/4B Character Generator to connect to the modem.
           The part number is 997960603, SG3/4B Remote to Modem Cable.
       b) The modem which is connected to the ZKBx keyboard set the switches 1 , 4 and 8 to the
           DOWN position. The other switches are in the up position.
       c) For the modem which is connected to the SG3/4B Character Generator set the switches 1 , 4 ,
           7 and 8 to the DOWN position. The other switches are in the up position.
       d) Verify that the baud rate settings on the ZKB or ZKB2/ZKB3 Interface module is set
           to 300 baud (This;  to 300 baud (This is the default setting for SG3/4B Character Generators).

Batch Transfer Settings

1)    Batch Transferring from a Z Series Character Generator to another Z Series
       Character generator using the US Robotics Sportster FAXModems.

       a) Set both US Robotics Sportster FAXModems switches 1 , 3 , 4 , 7 and 8 to the DOWN
