PB-1 VCR Playback Controller

Tesxcan MSI's Playback system PB-1, is a multiple VCR controller that will allow unattended video playback for up to 14 VCR programs. Sophisticated video monitoring circuitry verifies proper operation of VCR's while on the air. An external primary video and audio source is shown as the default output or in the event of a VCR malfunction.

Individual VCR control of Play, Stop, and Rewind on any of up to 14 VCR's is accomplished through the use of an external sequencing device.

Direct interface with Texscan's SpectraGen Z series of charater generators or the CSR-D series provide real time control of VCR's. By using event file switching for the page attributes menu in a SG-Z, or day parting event list schedule in a CSR, a specific VCR be played, stopped, or rewound. Utilizating PB-1's parallel interface provides other computers, with the proper software, to control the PB-1's operation.

A 1 KHz Stop tone, recorded on the second audio track of the videotape, provides and end-of-program cue for program switching. The built-in tone generator and remote handheld switch is provided to record stop tones.

A single video sync output is provided to the VCR's for roll-free switching. A seperate plus distribution amplifier is required for more than one VCR.
