A Quick Programming Procedure for New Useramming Procedure for New Users
This is a programming procedure for the Z-Series Character Generator, but it may also be used on SGeB and SG3/4B Character Generators. Words to familiarize yourself with: Region, Sequence, Display Attributes.
Assuming the pages 1, 2, 30, 31, 32 and 33 are to be displayed. & size=2>
For Region 1, Page 1 will be displayed. For Region 2, Page 2 (the clock
and date page) will be displayed. For
1) Verify or set the Regions to be displayed. The default setting for the character generator is 4 Regions. To view the settings, press <EDIT>, then <SET CHAN>. For the SpectraGen Z-Series and the SG3/4B character generators there are 6 possible regions for the character generator. Each region consists of display lines which are adjustable. The maximum lines for the all regions must equal 26. Press <ENTER> repeatedly until you exit the screen. 2) Set the sequence for each region that the pages will be displayed on. Press <EDIT>, <SEQ> (Sequence for Region), for each Region being used configure the following settings. From the Sequence for Region cursor, press <cursor, press <1> and <ENTER>. On File 1, set the following: START PAGE 0001 and STOP PAGE 0001, Set CHANGE FILE 0001. Do this by typing in the numbers and using the <ENTER> key after each number. For Files 2, 3, and 4 verify and change all settings to 0000's. To save these settings press <ENTER> repeatedly until you exit the menu. 3) Repeat Step 2 and for the Sequence for Region, press <2>. Press <ENTER>. Verify that On File 1, START PAGE is 0002 and STOP PAGE is 0002, CHANGE FILE is 0001. The other files are 0000. Press <ENTER> repeatedly to exit the menu.. 4) Repeat Step 2 and for the Sequence for Region, press <3> and <ENTER>. On File 1, edit the START PAGEfor 0031 and STOP PAGE for 0032, CHANGE FILE is 0001. The other files are 0000. Save the settings by pressing <ENTER> repeatedly and exiting the menu..  p; 5) Repeat Step 2 and for the Sequence for Region, press <4> and <ENTER>. On File 1, edit the START PAGEfor 0033 and STOP PAGE for 0033, CHANGE FILE is 0001. The other files are 0000. Save the settings. 6) Now begin editing the pages. Before editing a page you must be in the EDIT Mode. Whenever you press <EDIT>, you are in the EDIT Mode. To edit a page, you will need to recall the page. Press <RECALL>, enter the page number and press <ENTER>. For example, PAGE 1 will be edited first. When you have recalled Page 1 there may be some text on the page, to delete the text press <ALT> + <ERASE PAGE>. Since this is the title page. You will only use the first line. Type in any information that will fit on the line. When that is done, you will need to set the display attributes (configuration) of the page. Press <DISPLY ATTRIB>. Now for the next options, Display Type change the type to BANG (use the spacebar), press <ENTER>, for Display Speed change the speed to MEDIUM (use the spacebar), press <ENTER>. For the Display Time change te Display Time change the time to 10 seconds(type in the numbers). For Page Skip, Page Link and Page Wait set them to N (NO). Press <ENTER> all the way through until you are back onto the display page. Now to save the page to memory, press <STORE>, Verify that the page number displayed is 0001. Then press <ENTER>, the page number should then say STORED . 7) For the next few pages (30, 31, 32), repeat the process of recall, and edit. But instead of editing one line, you are able to use only 8 lines, although you can type on all 12 lines only the first eight lines will be displayed. So only use the first 8 lines. Now, when setting the Display Attributes of each page, you can use different Display types, Display Speeds (using Medium is real time), and Display Times (maximum is 99 sec.). Set PAGE SKIP, PAGE LINK, and PAGE WAIT to N (NO). These three options can be implemented with special programming. Press <ENTER> all the way through to save the Display Attributes of the pages. To save the actual page press <STORE>, then press <ENTER>. &nsp; 8) Finally, to edit page 33 for Region 4, repeat Step 6 but instead of using one line, use 8 lines and within the Display Attributes set the Display Type as CRAWL. Save your information. Press <RESUME DISPLAY> to view the pages. Remember, whenever a page is created,
check the Display Attribute of the page (configure if necessary), enter
all the way through then store the page to memory
